Chad L. Hobbs Shareholder

Chad L. Hobbs joined the firm’s litigation practice group in 2004.  Since then, he has represented clients as both plaintiffs and defendants in state and federal courts throughout Alabama, Mississippi, and Tennessee in a variety of cases, including personal injury and wrongful death actions, commercial contract disputes and complex business litigation, shareholder disputes and derivative claims in closely held corporations, royalty and payment disputes under oil and gas leases and other mineral interests, will contests, and cases involving real estate interests and title litigation.  More recently, he has focused his litigation practice on insurance coverage litigation and bad faith claims, litigation of fraud claims in mortgage lending transactions, and representation of sureties in fidelity and surety matters.  In addition to his experience in trial court litigation, Mr. Hobbs has also represented clients in appellate proceedings in the Supreme Court of Alabama and the Alabama Court of Civil Appeals, as well as the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.

Mr. Hobbs has also actively sought opportunities to represent and advise clients in non-litigation matters.  He regularly represents and advises non-profit corporations, is experienced in advising employers on employment law matters, has represented clients in both residential and commercial real estate transactions, and is also experienced in the collection of commercial accounts.

Originally from Baldwin County, Mr. Hobbs earned his Bachelor of Arts from Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Alabama, where he graduated with majors in both political science and religion & philosophy in 2001.  He attended law school at the University of Alabama, where he graduated cum laude and earned his law degree in 2004.  While in law school, he was a member of the editorial board of the Alabama Law Review and the Campbell Moot Court Board.

Mr. Hobbs is admitted to practice in all state and federal courts in both Alabama and Mississippi, and is also admitted to practice in Tennessee.  He has also been admitted to practice before the United States Courts of Appeal for both the Eleventh Circuit and the Fifth Circuit.  Mr. Hobbs is a member of the Alabama State Bar, the Mississippi Bar, and the Tennessee Bar Association.  He is also a member of the American Bar Association, the Defense Research Institute, the Alabama Defense Lawyers Association, and the Tuscaloosa County Bar Association.
