Blake A. Madison Shareholder

Blake A. Madison is a shareholder in the firm and practices primarily in the areas of state and local taxation; business, corporate, and commercial law; non-profit entities; health care compliance; and privacy and cybersecurity law.  He currently serves on the firm's Management Committee.

Mr. Madison has participated in reported tax cases before the Alabama Supreme Court, the Alabama Court of Civil Appeals, and the Alabama Tax Tribunal. 

Mr. Madison is a member of the Board of Trustees for the American Institute on Federal Taxation. He is also active member of The Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama serving in numerous capacities, including his current role as Chairman Elect.  He recently completed serving as Vice Chair for Public Policy and Advocacy.  Previously, he served as the Chamber's legal counsel and chairman of both the Public Affairs Council and the Tax and Fiscal Policy Committee, and was a member on its Downtown Development Committee. He is also currently on the Mayor's Business Advisory Council.

Mr. Madison was honored with the 2012 Charles H. Land Member of the Year Award by The Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama, its highest award given to an individual.

He recently completed his term as Chairman of the Section of Taxation for the Alabama State Bar and now serves as Treasurer of the Business Section of the Alabama State Bar.  He is also a member of the Tuscaloosa County Bar Association.

He also was co-author of the Alabama chapter of the ABA Property Tax Deskbook (2001) and co-wrote, “Cellular Phone ‘Deals’ Create New Sales and Use Tax Issues,” Vol. 1, The State and Local Tax Lawyer, 1996.  He has previously served as a contributing author to State Tax Notes and CCH Sales & Use Tax Alert

Mr. Madison is a graduate of Leadership Tuscaloosa and previously served as legal counsel to The Literacy Council of West Alabama.  He is also a member of the American Health Lawyers Association and the International Associate of Privacy Professionals.  He is a Certified Information Privacy Professional ("CIPP/US").  

Mr. Madison served as president and a member of the board of directors for the Tuscaloosa Morning Rotary Club and helped found the Tuscaloosa Morning Rotary Foundation. 

He graduated magna cum laude from the University of Alabama with a B.S. in Accounting and received his Juris Doctor from the University of Alabama. 

He and his wife are active members of the Central Church of Christ in Tuscaloosa, where he served as Chairman of the Vision and Rebuilding Committee in the wake of the devastating EF-4 tornado of April 27, 2011.
